Are your heating bills too high? Is your house cold and drafty in winter and too hot in summer? Are you having difficulty seeing through the icicles hanging off your roof? Lockport Insulation has services for you and your home!
Since 1978 Lockport Insulation has specialized in retrofitting Manitoba homes with top-quality insulation, sealing air leaks, and balancing ventilation. We are a registered contractor with Efficiency MB and offer their excellent rebate programs to our customers at no additional cost!
Our mission is simple: to reduce Manitoba homeowners' energy bills while improving the comfort of their living spaces, increasing the value of their investments, and extending the lifespan of their homes.
Our Approach to Attic Insulation
To achieve our mission as stated above, we follow a simple 3-step approach:
Step 1: Address Air Leakage. We expose and seal penetrations from light fixtures, holes drilled through interior walls, plumbing stacks, and bathroom fans, and seal up any sources of air leakage from the home into the attic.
Step 2: Balance Ventilation. Using the formulas found in the Canada Building Code, we calculate the required total ventilation and install air chutes, roof vents, and gable vents accordingly to balance intake and exhaust, ensuring the attic space ventilation functions properly as a system. We also ensure that any existing ducting in the attic is in proper working order so that warm, moist air being exhausted from your home's living space is all making its way outside and not into the attic!
Step 3: Add Insulation. We roll out the hose, fire up our machine, and blow loose-fill cellulose insulation into the attic to the homeowner's desired R‑value (typically R‑50 or R‑60). Now, let the energy savings begin!
Insulation Retrofitting: A Cost-Effective Solution
Now, more than ever, Manitobans are looking for ways to save money. At Lockport Insulation, we aim to provide value - period. Adding insulation to your home doesn’t have to break the bank. It is often the most cost-effective step you can take, reducing energy bills while increasing the comfort of your home.
And, with the help of government rebates, adding insulation becomes even more affordable! Did you know that rebates from Efficiency MB can pay for as much as half the cost (even more in some cases) of adding insulation? As a registered contractor with Efficiency Manitoba, we handle the entire rebate application process, making it easier for you to access the benefits of improved insulation.

Common Problems Caused by Insufficient Attic Insulation, Air Sealing and Ventilation
High Energy Bills: Heat rises! Therefore, insufficient attic insulation equals unnecessarily high energy bills. Stop heat loss in its tracks by adding attic insulation!
Drafty, Uncomfortable Living Spaces: Insufficient insulation, as well as air leakage through penetrations in your vapour barrier, can make it difficult to control the temperature of your living spaces. Take back control of your home’s climate by significantly reducing air leakage and increasing insulation!
Ice Damming: When heat from your living space makes its way into the attic, it causes snow on your roof to melt, run down your roof, and refreeze at the eaves. Ice backs up under your shingles, resulting in various problems. Preventing air leakage, adding insulation, and improving attic ventilation significantly reduces the likelihood and severity of ice damming.

INSULATION SERVICES
Attic Insulation Retrofits
Air Sealing: Stopping heat loss by sealing ceiling penetrations in the attic, preventing air and moisture leakage, that can cause mold, damage, and heat loss.
Ventilation: Ensure proper intake and exhaust ventilation in the attic to remove excess moisture, reduce ice damming, and extend shingle life.
Insulation: Add cellulose insulation to improve attic R‑value, provide fire resistance, repel insects and rodents, and use eco-friendly materials.
Wall Insulation Retrofits
Wall Injection: Effective for older homes with empty or settled insulation. Cellulose insulation is injected into wall cavities to enhance thermal performance and reduce air leakage, dust, pollutants, and allergens.
Assessment for Redoing Exteriors: Essential for homes undergoing exterior renovations. Damaged insulation is removed and replaced with updated air/vapour barriers, insulation, and sheathing, followed by additional insulation and a rain screen for improved performance.
Insulation Removal
Initial Assessment: Address the condition of existing insulation and vapour barriers with improvements or additions as needed. In some cases, complete removal and replacement of insulation may be necessary.
Moisture, Mold, Pests, and Asbestos: Moisture intrusion, mold growth, pest damage, and asbestos presence can necessitate insulation removal and replacement of your home insulation.
Insulation Removal: Using a powerful vacuum to remove damaged insulation without affecting the living space, ensuring thorough and safe removal.
